THE INVASION OF 2022: ZELENSKY VS PUTIN

Ever since Vladimir Putin ordered the Russian forces to invade Ukraine the cold war has turned super-hot. Now coming to the roots of an even chance of World War 3, Ukraine was a fair part of the Russian empire and received its independence in the year 1991. Ever since the independence, Ukraine is battling corruption and internal divisions. Russia hasn’t stayed back in taking advantage of this situation, be it by the means of air, land or sea Russia has launched a horrifying attack on Ukraine. For a couple of months president Vladimir Putin opposed the mere idea of invading his neighbor, but then he tore up a peace deal and unbridled what Germany named “Putin’s war”, throwing forces into north, east and south regions of Ukraine.

Ukrainian airports and military headquarters were attacked on 24th February 2022, right after Putin made the statement of Russia not feeling “safe, develop and exist” because of a constant threat from the modern Ukraine. The Russian president claimed his goal to protect his people who were subjected to bullying and genocide and aim for the “demilitarization and de-Nazification” of Ukraine. Whereas on the other hand plus a brighter sight there has been no genocide in Ukraine: it is a vibrant democracy led by Volodymyr Zelenskyy who is Jewish.

It is crystal clear from Russia’s actions that it is seeking to seize the bigger cities and topple down Ukraine’s democratically elected government. Putin’s long-term aspirations for Ukraine are vague at the moment. He denies to occupy Ukraine whereas from his actions it seems quite the opposite. Putin and his inner circle made it abundantly clear that Ukraine cannot be allowed to continue its existence in its current form and there is no cost too high to bear for Russia in helping of its goal. In the upcoming days, we would all as a whole remember the most ominous phrase once Putin mentioned “We (Russia) have every right to take measures to improve our security. Which is what we are going to do.”
